24th Annual Invitational Tournament

Date: Sunday, February 22nd, 2026

Location: Lenape Elementary School, 1 Eugene L. Brown Dr, New Paltz, NY 12561

The cost of registration is $125 for participants who have not started weapons. This covers one or two of the basic events (empty hand Forms and empty hand Sparring). You will be automatically registered for both Forms and Sparring. If there is some reason you believe you cannot do one or the other, please speak with your head instructor and Mrs. Alencar immediately. We need to know before the registration deadline.

For participants who have started weapons training, the cost of registration is $140 whether you do one, two or three weapons events (weapons Forms, padded Bo Sparring, padded Escrima sparring). If you have started weapons, you are automatically entered in to all empty hand and weapons events. If you are unable to participate in a particular empty hand or weapons event, please speak with your head instructor and Mrs. Alencar immediately. We need to know before the registration deadline.

You may purchase 24th Annual Invitational Tournament t-shirts now at a preorder discount of $20. There will be a $20 spectator fee for non-participants 5 and older, payable at the door. The registration deadline is Thursday, January 15^th, 2026.  No late registrations will be accepted. The fee is non-refundable.

Arrival Time: Please note there are 3 different arrival times

9:00 am All Shodan/Nidan participants and Brown/Green/Junior Black Belt scorekeepers/runners

(Sandan and above and Instructors will be the night before)

9:30 am All other adult Brown Belts, Junior Black Belts, ALL Ik Kyu’s regardless of age

12:00 pm All other participants

Waiver of Liability/Release

In consideration of being allowed to participate in any way in the New Paltz Invitational, the undersigned participant, or parent or guardian of a minor child participant: 1. Agrees to inspect, prior to participation, the facilities and equipment to be used, and if the participant or parent or guardian believes anything is unsafe, he or she should immediately withdraw from the competition and refuse to participate. 2. Acknowledges and fully understands that each participant will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death. 3. Releases, waives, discharges, and covenants not to sue the New Paltz Karate Academy, Inc., the New Paltz School System, nor any and all sponsors, officials, promoters, instructors, or other participants. Participant/Parent or Guardian individually and for his/her successors, heirs, administrator, executors, and assigns, expressly assumes all risk of injury resulting either directly or indirectly from the tournament. Participant/Parent or Guardian hereby releases the New Paltz Karate Academy, Inc., its successors, assigns, and all of its employees, instructors, and related persons, firms, or corporations of and from every claim, demand, right or cause of action of any nature, for upon, or by any reason of any damage, loss, injury, or suffering, which hereafter may be sustained as a direct or indirect result of traveling to, participating in, or returning from the tournament. I have read the above waiver and release, and understand that I/my child have/has given up substantial rights by signing it and sign it voluntarily.
